LNYDP 2017 - Day 5

Our final day in London. We wanted to see St. Paul's Cathedral, which is a short walk from our hotel. We crossed the Millennium Bridge. We went in and were blown away by the beauty and magnitude of this place. We spent most of the morning touring the cathedral. The highlight was walking up over 300 stairs to go stand outside at the top of the cathedral dome. That was an amazing view of London. The cathedral is exactly 365 feet tall, a foot for every day of the year.

Pictures from the top of the dome.

We then had lunch at a French cafe across the street. This is the same cafe I got the picture of a few nights earlier. We got olives and bread as an appetizer and some really good sandwiches for lunch.

That afternoon, we made our way to Greenwich to go to the Royal Observatory and stand on the Prime Meridian. Getting over there was not easy. I almost gave up, but we finally got there and walked up the hill to the observatory. The view from the observatory is amazing with the Queen's House in the foreground, then the National Maritime Museum, then the buildings at the Docklands in the background.

We quickly made our way through the observatory and got our pictures on the Prime Meridian.

They had displays of the original clocks designed hundreds of years ago. That was really cool.

We walked down to the Queen's House and toured through it. It had lots and lots of artwork.

The famous Tulip Stairs

We made our way back through Greenwich. We were going to get dinner there, but the place was very busy. We decided to head back to London. We got dinner at a burrito place, just like Chipotle. We went back to Westminster and took some nighttime shots of Big Ben and the London Eye.

Afterwards, we went back to the hotel. It was very cold. I decided to go out and get some more nighttime shots of London. I wanted to go towards the London Eye to get pictures of it all lit up. I walked from the Blackfriars Bridge towards the London Eye on the southbank and got these shots along the way.

The next day, we packed up and headed for the airport. We were ready to head home. London was great, but there's no place like home.
